PEB Day of Dedication 2020

The Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Day of Dedication (DOD) 2020 was held on 17 Dec 2020 in a virtual ceremony for the first time due to the Covid situation. The Day of Dedication is held to recognise newly PEs, SPEs and ACPEs as well as the contribution of PEs to Singapore built environment and the community.

Re-Engineering for the New Normal

President PEB, Er. Ho Siong Hin in his address, said that PEs will need to adapt to the new normal and re-engineer the way they do their business and carry out their daily work. For example, the use of technology to communicate and transact businesses as well as working from home will be more prevalent.

The Guest-of-Honour, Mr Tan Kiat How, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and for National Development, delivered the opening address in line with the theme “Re-Engineer for a New Normal – Enhancing Productivity, Resilience, and Digitalisation”. In his speech, MOS Tan Kiat How highlighted the important role that engineers could play in enabling the built environment sector to emerge stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic – through driving the adoption of technologies such as Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA) and Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD), as well as enhancing pandemic resilience and sustainability standards in the built environment.

PEB Distinguished Engineer Award 2020
This year’s Distinguished Professional Engineer Award was presented to Er. Lee Chuan Seng, Emeritus Chairman of BECA Asia and Chairman of the National Environment Agency. The award was conferred to Er.
